Lord, help me to learn this lesson from Joseph: You are with us no matter what

When it comes to following Jesus, we are all in. Serving Jesus is not a part-time lifestyle, a Sunday thing, or a church thing. It is a lifestyle.

When we think of Joseph we see that he was all in. In Genesis 39, we pick up the story of Joseph. He has been sold as a slave and arrives in Egypt. Genesis 39: 1-2 says: “When Joseph was taken to Egypt by the traders, he was purchased by Potiphar, an Egyptian offices. Potiphar was captain of the guard for Pharaoh, the king of Egypt. The Lord was with Joseph, so he succeeded in everything he did as he served in the home of his Egyptian master.”

Joseph was all in! Joseph was sold as a slave and now is a servant to a master. Remember, this was not the dream God had given him, but he trusted God. Imagine all that Joseph has just gone through: hated by his brothers, sold as a slave, takes the journey to Egypt, and is sold again. How would we respond? How do we respond when things do not go how we expect them to go?

But Joseph realized that the Lord was with him even in life’s most challenging seasons. Lord, help me know that You are always with me as Your child. “You will never leave me nor forsake me.” What an assurance this brings into our lives.

Someone said: “Life is 10% what happens to us and 90% how we respond to it.” Joseph responded in the right way, even though he could not change what happened to him. We may not be able to change what has happened to us, but we can change how we respond.

Because the Lord was with Joseph, he succeeded and was blessed even in these circumstances that were not easy to go through in life.

Lord, help me to learn this lesson from Joseph: You are with us no matter what, and we may not be able to change what is happening around us, but we can change what is happening inside us!

Thank you, Lord, for this reminder today!
