In Proverbs 11, King Solomon, the wealthiest man of the day, gives godly wisdom regarding money and possessions. God cares about what we do with the material possessions that He entrusts us. Everything we receive from the Lord belongs to Him, and we are to be good stewards of the blessings that the Lord gives us to use for His Kingdom.
Verse 4 – “Riches won’t help on the day of judgment, but right living can save you from death.”
Verses 24-28 – “Give freely and become wealthy; be stingy and lose everything. The generous will prosper; those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed. People curse those who hoard their grain, but they bless the one who sells in time of need. If you search for good, you will be find favor, but if you search for evil, it will find you. Trust in your money and down you go! But the godly flourish like leaves in Spring.”
Wisdom understands that we are blessed because of our relationship with and obedience to the Lord in all areas of life. We are not striving to be self-made people but people who are blessed by God!
People who trust in their possessions, power, and pennies will be disappointed when they stand before God on Judgment Day. It is not what we have but who we have that makes all the difference.
People who believe, trust, and obey the Lord will be blessed here in the present and for all eternity! Wisdom understands that we need Jesus! When we have Him, He will give us everything we need for life today and all my tomorrows!
Lord, help me live a generous and giving life and bless others as You have blessed me!
