Lord, help me to realize that You are the ONE STABLE THING in our unstable world!

We live in a culture of change today! Everything changes, and nothing is consistent today. We see it in our marriages, families, church, and our city. What can we rely on? What gives us stability in an unstable world?

In the last book of the Old Testament, Malachi, we read these words in Malachi 3 6-7: “I am the Lord, and I do not change.” That is why you descendants of Jacob are not already destroyed. Ever since the days of your ancestors, you have scorned my decrees and failed to obey them. Now return to Me, and I will return to you, says the Lord of Heaven’s armies.”

Whether we like it or not, God does not change! We want a God that we can change into what we want from God! We want a God that does things our way! We want a God that we can tell what to do. But God’s Word clearly says: “I am the Lord, I do not change.” I do not change because the culture has changed. I do not change because you do not like what I command! God is not going to change for any person, any church, or any society!

In the New Testament, we read: Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever.. We need to come to grips with the fact that we are the ones who have to change. We reject and fail to obey what God clearly states in His Word. We must repent and return to serving God on His terms!

We are constantly changing, but God is the same and will not change! This is a call to repentance, which means to turn around and go back to our first love, our relationship with the Lord!

Lord, help me to realize that You are the ONE STABLE THING in our unstable world!
