Jesus has always been calling people to follow Him. Jesus first saves us, and then He calls us to follow Him. How many people want Jesus to save us from our sin, but we do not wish to follow Him as the Lord of our lives?
“Jesus called out to them, ‘Come, follow Me, and I will show you how to fish for people.” And they left their nets at once and followed Jesus.” Matthew 4: 19-20
Jesus is still calling out to people to “Come, follow Me.” He is calling, but are we listening and responding to His call? The Lord is calling us to follow Him! Are we willing to follow Jesus?
Jesus says, ‘I will show you your true purpose in life.’ He is calling us to reach out to others for Jesus! Are we sharing Jesus with people who are lost without Him? Are we serving and building in His kingdom? Are we making a difference for the Kingdom of God?
Jesus calls, but they respond by leaving their nets and following Jesus. Leaving their nets was their way of making a living, a job, a career, because they were fishermen. They left everything they had in this life to follow Jesus. Are we really ready to follow Jesus completely?
Lord, help me to respond to Your call and follow You completely, knowing that You are all I need.
