What do we know about Jonah? We immediately think about him being swallowed by the fish.
But what led up to the fish story? Jonah willfully rebelled by disobeying God’s will.
Jonah 1:2-3; “Get up and go to the great city of Nineveh. Announce my judgment against it because I have seen how wicked its people are. BUT JONAH got up and went in the opposite direction to get away from the Lord.”
As followers of Jesus, how many of us rebel and run in the opposite direction that God wants us to go?
Why? Because we feel that what God is asking us is too complicated or that it is not comfortable for us. So we run!
Running from God will also have consequences that we may not see right now. We can run from God, but we cannot outrun God. We can run from God, but He will be there waiting for us.
Today, instead of running from God, we need to run to Him! He is a great running partner in life!
Lord, help me to run towards you and not away from you!
