In Genesis 37, we are introduced to Joseph. Joseph is one of the people from the Bible from whom we can learn some great lessons for our lives today.

In Genesis 17:1-4, we see that Joseph is the youngest brother of a blended family. Joseph is 17 years old and out with his step-brothers caring for the sheep.

We read, “And Joseph brought a bad report about his brothers to his father. Now, Israel loved Joseph more than any of his sons, because he was the son of his old age. And he made him a robe of many colors. But when his brothers saw that their father loved him more than all his brothers, they hated him and could not speak peacefully to him.”

Here is a lesson today for parents, step-parents, and even grandparents. We must love them all equally because we will do more harm to the family unity. We must be careful to love them all.

Jacob made it obvious that he loved Joseph more than all the other brothers. This is where we see sibling rivalry. All of our children and grandchildren will be different in every way, but we must love them all the same. We may not approve of their behavior, but we must accept them and love them the same way.

I am thankful that God loves all of His children equally! God loves each of us today!

Lord, help me to show Your love to my family today! Lord, bring unity into every family!
