Lord, help me to smell more like You

What do we smell like? Do we give off a good smell or a lousy smell? In our journey of following Jesus, “What kind of smell are we giving to other people?

Paul wrote about this in 2 Corinthians 2: 14-16 – “…Now He uses us to spread the knowledge of Christ everywhere, like a sweet perfume. Our lives are a Christ-like fragrance rising up to God. But this fragrance is perceived differently by those who are being saved and by those who are perishing. To those who are perishing, we are a dreadful smell of death and doom. But to those who are being saved, we are a life-giving perfume.”

What kind of smell are we giving off spiritually? Are people attracted to us, or are they trying to get away from us? Are we like sweet perfume, a good perfume that smells good, or do we smell lousy? How we live in this world, church, and at home, will either make people want to get close to us because of the aroma of Jesus or are people trying to get away from us?

In our spiritual journey, not everyone will like the smell of Jesus in our lives. People will reject us and not want to get close to us when we live like Jesus. It will cause them to realize that they are not right with God. That is okay because we may be the only Jesus they see and smell!

Do we smell like Jesus? Are we giving off the right kind of perfume? Do people see and smell the beauty of Jesus in our lives?

Lord, help me to smell more like You! Help me to be a good representative of Jesus in my daily life!
