Do we become impatient with God that He is not working on our timetable? Do we feel that God is not working as fast as we would like Him to work? So we begin to complain and think that God has forgotten us?
This is what the prophet Habakkuk felt like. In Habakkuk 2: 1 – “I will climb up to my watchtower and stand at my guard post. There I will wait to see what the Lord says and how he will answer my complaint.” How many of us are listening to how the Lord is going to answer our complaints and criticisms in life?
The Lord answers Habakkuk in verse 3 – “This vision is for a future time. It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled. If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place. It will not be delayed.”
We do not like the answer – To wait! We want God to answer yes! Even if He says no, we can get over that. But wait? Waiting is what tests us! Waiting is what causes us to grow spiritually! Waiting is when we learn if we are trusting the Lord! Waiting helps us to grow in faith!
We may not like the waiting seasons in life, but waiting is for our God. Isaiah tells us – “They who wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint!”
Lord, help me to wait on You and Your timing for all that You have promised! Help me to know that You are always faithful to Your Word, and to Your children!
