How many love the story of David and Goliath? If you were raised in church, this is one of the great stories of faith, courage, and victory.
In 1 Samuel 17, Jesse, David’s father, sends him to the battle with food for his brothers. Jesse wants a report on how his sons are doing in battle. When David gets there, Goliath comes out and taunts the Israelite army. David says, “Who is this pagan Philistine anyway, that he is allowed to defy the armies of the living God?” David did not just know about God; he knew that God is greater than any enemy we face.
All the soldiers are terrified of Goliath, and David, the first door dash guy, talks about having faith in fighting Goliath. The army is full of fear, but David is full of faith.
People that have no faith do not understand people of faith. They think that you are crazy, ridiculous, and foolish, but this will not change a person of faith who knows God!
David answers Saul in 1 Samuel 17: 32-33; “Don’t worry about this Philistine,” David told Saul. “I’ll go fight him.” “Don’t be ridiculous! Saul replied. “There’s no way you can fight this Philistine and possibly win! You’re only a boy, and he’s been a man of war since his youth.”
When you know God, you can walk by faith, no matter what your giant is in life. For the person of fear, they want to hide from the giants. However, people of faith realize that “if God is for me, who can be against me?”
Lord, help me to walk by faith and face my giants! “Because I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
