Lord, help me to walk by faith and live it out for my children and grandchildren

We must pass our faith on to the next generation, beginning with our children and grandchildren. We must show them what this walk of faith means and how it is expressed through our lives.

Genesis 22: 6-8: “So Abraham placed the wood for the burnt offering on Isaac’s shoulders, while he himself carried the fire and the knife. Isaac turned to Abraham and said, “Father?”

“Yes, my son?” Abraham replied. We have fire and wood, the boy said. But where is the sheep for the burnt offering?” “God will provide a sheep for the burnt offering, my son,” Abraham answered. And they both walked together.

Think about the feelings and thoughts that must have been going through Abraham. Was he questioning himself? Was he praying? Was he worshiping God? But the journey to where God told him to go must have been emotional.

Isaac recognized that there was wood, fire, and a knife. But he asks his dad. Dad, where is the sheep for the burnt offering? It was not the first time he watched Dad build the altar and prepare a sacrifice. How did Abraham respond? “THE LORD WILL PROVIDE A SHEEP FOR THE BURNT OFFERING.”

Abraham teaches us the walk of faith! He was still standing on God’s promise to Abraham many years earlier about his promised son. As parents, we are the most important role models for walking by faith that our children will see! We must live it out and not just talk about it.

Lord, help me walk by faith and live it out for my children and grandchildren. Help them see me as a model of what it means to be a follower of Jesus!
