In John 5, we see that Jesus heals a man who has been lame/paralyzed for many years. When Jesus sees the man, He goes to him and asks, “Would you like to get well?”
How many people today are paralyzed? (Not just physically, but mentally, emotionally, and spiritually paralyzed?) When you are paralyzed, you cannot move or change your condition, and you begin to lose hope that life will ever get better. But Jesus saw this man and went to him. I want to encourage you if you are paralyzed by life, Jesus sees you! Jesus sees your condition! Jesus sees your need!
Jesus asks this paralyzed man? “Would you like to get well?” That seems to be a strange question. Why would Jesus ask the man this? We would think that the simple answer is YES! I want to be healed!
But how does the man respond? John 5:8; “I can’t, sir, “the sick man said, “for I have no one to put me into the pool when the water bubbles up. Someone else aways gets there ahead of me.”
Really, the Healer is standing before Him, and he is making excuses that no one can help me get into the water. How many of us live by excuses? Blame our situation on our experiences? We come up with excuses for why God cannot help us.
John 5:8-9; “Jesus told him, “Stand up, pick up your mat, and walk! INSTANTLY, the man was healed! He rolled up his sleeping mat and began walking.”
Are we going to live with our excuses or are we going to walk by faith in Jesus! Lord, help me to walk by faith, and not by sight!
This week, we need to shift towards the Cross! Jesus died for you and me! But the Cross was not the end, because Jesus would rise again on the third day! Today, let us begin to celebrate the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus! Because “the same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead now dwells in us.”
“Because He lives….I can face tomorrow!
