Fragrances! Smells! Some fragrances and smells are good, while others are awful! What kind of fragrance or smell are we in our world?
Paul writes about this in 2 Corinthians 2: 14- 16: “…Now He uses us to spread the knowledge of Christ everywhere, like a sweet perfume. Our lives are a Christ-like fragrance rising up to God. But this fragrance is perceived differently by those who are being saved and by those who are perishing. To those who are perishing, we are a dreadful smell of death and doom. But to those who are being saved, we are a life-giving perfume. And who is adequate for such a task as this?”
What kind of smell are we giving off in our spiritual life? Can people smell the fragrance of Jesus in our lives? Can they sense Jesus’ presence in our lives?
To the unbeliever, do we give them the fragrance of Jesus? Can they see, hear, and smell the difference that Jesus makes in our lives? To them, are we like death? Can they sense Jesus’ presence in our lives because of the way we live? Do they realize that they need Jesus simply because they are with us?
To the believers, we are a life-giving perfume! Do we give the smell of Jesus? Abundant life? Hope? Joy? Peace? Can they smell or see the difference that Jesus makes in our lives?
What kind of spiritual smell do we have? Lord, help the aroma of Jesus to be in and on my life today!
