Psalm 23 is an excellent source of strength, comfort, and hope in all the seasons of life. “The Lord is My Shepherd……”
Psalm 23:5 reads, “You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.”
When you read that the Lord prepares a table, I see a picture of a table where you sit, eat, and fellowship with family and friends. Where is the table? In the presence of enemies. I need to realize we can have a table even with enemies. When the Lord is your shepherd, you can enjoy His fellowship amid your battle.
“You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.” The shepherd would anoint the sheep to keep the pests away and to rub on any injury to the sheep. The oil would bring relief and healing. The oil represents the Holy Spirit.
Lord, I need the oil of the Holy Spirit in my life today!
I need your help, healing, and relief, which only Your presence can bring to me today!
Lord, help me to live this verse out in my own life! You are with me today!
