Lord, I want to know You more, understand Your ways better, and enjoy Your favor over my life today

How many want to have a closer prayer life with the Lord? But we struggle with this spiritual discipline. Prayer is not about the words, phrases, or posture; it is always about the heart.

In Exodus 33: 12-13, we see prayer between Moses and God. “You have told me, ‘I know you by name, and I look favorably on you.’ If it is true that you look favorably on me, let me know Your ways so I may understand You more fully and continue to enjoy Your favor. And remember that this nation is your very own people.”

What a conversation between Moses and God. They are talking with each other. Prayer is a conversation with God.

God tells Moses (and us), “I know you by name, and I look favorably on you.” God wants us to know that He knows us by name. This is talking about the relationship that God wants with us. Think about that statement: God wants to know me! God wants to know you. He knows my name! He knows my pain! He knows my struggles! He knows what I am facing today! That is the God who wants to have a relationship with us.

God looks favorable at us. God is not angry and just waiting for us to mess up. God is for us and not against us! God loves us! God takes care of us. God is working out His good in our lives today. Romans 8:28; “And we know that in all things, God is working for the good to those who love God and are called according to His purpose.”

Then Moses prays: “Let me know your ways so I may understand You more fully and continue to enjoy Your favor.” Moses prays that I want to know Your ways so I may understand and continue to enjoy Your favor.”

Our prayer is simply, “Lord, I love You, and I want to know You better and know Your ways better so that I can continue to enjoy You and Your favor in my life.”

Today, I make that my prayer! Lord, I want to know You more, understand Your ways better, and enjoy Your favor over my life!
