Lord, renew and strengthen me in my journey of following Jesus

Luke 22, we see that Jesus’ journey to the Cross begins. We see that Judas will betray Jesus for 30 pieces of silver. We see Jesus at the Last Supper with His disciples, sharing communion with them, and telling them that the Cross is before Him. Jesus says that there is one person sitting around the table who has betrayed Jesus. Jesus tells Peter that Peter will deny him before he dies on the Cross.

Luke 22: 31-32; “Simon, Simon, Satan has asked to sift each of you like wheat. But I have pleaded in prayer for you, Simon, that your faith should not fail. So when you have repented and turned to me again , strengthen your brothers.”

This happens to every Christian as a follower of Jesus. Satan is going to do everything he can to sift us. Satan wants us to give up following Jesus because the journey is difficult. Jesus’ journey was a difficult one. The disciples’ journey of following Jesus was a difficult one.

Satan wants to sift us, but Jesus is praying for us to shift to Him. “But I have pleaded in prayer for you, that your faith will not fail.”

Are we going to be sifted or are we going to shift to be what God wants us to be?

Today, the Good News is that Jesus is praying for us, pleading for us to be strengthened through His Spirit and His Word! He is praying that our faith will be strengthened in the difficult battles of life!

Jesus is our prayer partner! Be encouraged today that Jesus is praying and pleading for you and your family!

Remind yourself: “That they who wait upon the Lord shall renew themselves in the Lord.” Renew and strengthen me in my journey of following Jesus.”
