Do we ever think that our prayers do not mean anything? What does prayer really accomplish? Why do we struggle in the spiritual discipline of prayer?

Moses shows us the power of prayer in Numbers 14. The whole community is angry at God and Joshua and Caleb. They are talking about killing Joshua and Caleb for their report on the Promised Land. God is angry at His people because of their fear, doubt, and disobedience.

But Moses intercedes or prays to the Lord on behalf of the people. His prayer saved the lives of the people of Israel.

Numbers 14: 17-19 is a great model of prayer that we can learn to pray: “Please, Lord, prove that Your power is great as You have claimed. For You said, “The Lord is slow to anger and filled with unfailing love, forgiving every kind of sin and rebellion. But He does not excuse the guilty. He lays the parents’ sins upon the children; the entire family is affected – even children; the entire family is affected – even children in the third and fourth generations. In keeping with You magnificent, unfailing love, please pardon the sins of this people, just as you have forgiven them ever since they left Egypt.”

Here is a way to pray for our unsaved family and friends and for our relationship with them!

Lord, thank You for being slow to anger and filled with unfailing love.
