Lord, thank you for loving and changing me

When you follow Jesus, He will deal with the real issues of our lives! We all have a past and present, and God wants us to change so that God will bless our future. Are we willing to get real about our issues, messes, failures, and sins?

In John 4: 1-15, we looked at the woman’s encounter with Jesus at the well. And that Jesus offered her living water, a relationship with God that would change her destiny.

In verse 15, she asks Jesus to give her this water, salvation. Immediately, Jesus deals with the mess in her life and wants her to be willing to get honest and genuine about her life.

John 4: 16-18: “Go and get your husband,” Jesus told her. “I don’t have a husband, the woman replied.” Jesus said, “You’re right! You don’t have a husband – for you have had five husbands, and you aren’t even married to the man you’re living with now. You certainly, spoke the truth.”

Can you imagine how this woman felt when Jesus told her the truth about her life? Jesus knows the truth about our lives as well. Why should we deny, hide, and excuse our mess, failures, and sin when we can come to the Lord and confess our sins? We may try to hide our sins from family and people, but God knows the real us and still loves us and invites us to come to Him.

In the following few verses of John 4, the woman tries to change the subject of change and starts to debate Jesus about worship, where we worship, and how to worship. And Jesus brings her back to dealing with her sin. “That those who worship Him (Jesus) will worship in Spirit and in Truth.”

Today, we still must worship in Spirit and in Truth! Jesus knows the real us and invites us to come to Him. “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His Word is not in us.”

Lord, thank you for loving me enough that you are willing to change me!
