CHICAGO (June 16) — The family of Cezar O. Mancao and his lawyer are arriving on Wednesday, June 17, at 5:55 a.m. on board Philippine Airline Flight PR 103 in the Philippines.
A source told this reporter that lawyer Arnedo Valera, Mancao’s wife Maricar, and all the Mancao children were leaving Los Angeles International Airport in California at 10:35 p.m. Monday, June 15.
At the request of Mancao, the source said Mancao’s family and Valera will be met by agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) led by Atty. Ric Diaz at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.
They will go directly to the NBI office “for briefing with” Mancao.
It was not known if Valera, Mancao and his wife Maricar will get the chance to meet with erstwhile Justice Secretary and now Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Raul S. Gonzalez and President Macapagal Arroyo.
Valera will likely go over the legal defense team of Mancao before Mancao appears at the re-opening of the preliminary investigation of the murders of Salvador “Bubby” Dacer and Dacer’s driver, Emmanuel Corbito, eight years ago.
His co-accused in the double-murder case, Glenn G. Dumlao, will reportedly be appearing in the same investigation once he is extradited after making a deposition on June 22.
Dumlao’s deposition is going to be used as one of the evidence in the July 1 extradition trial of their fellow officer, Michael Ray B. Aquino, the other co-accused in the double murder case.
Mancao and Dumlao had executed affidavits linking Aquino and their superiors, former General-turned Sen. Panfilo Lacson and former President Joseph Estrada, in the case. Both Estrada and Lacson deny the accusations.
