LOS ANGELES – “Slumdog Millionaire” won the best-picture Academy Award and seven other Oscars Feb. 22 amid surprises and new ways of presenting awards. Unlike previous years where the producers hired a comedian to host the show, they went instead with actor and song-and-dance man Hugh Jackman, who has been host of Broadway’s Tony Awards.
