In Luke 22, we see the account of Peter denying Jesus 3 times. You would think that Peter would be more aware of what was going on because Jesus warned Him that this was what He was going to do.
Luke 22:60-62 “But Peter said, “Man, I don’t know what you are talking about.” And immediately, while he was still speaking, the rooster crowed. At that moment,t the LORD TURNED AND LOOKED AT PETER. Suddenly, the Lord’s words flashed through Peter’s mind: “Before the rooster crows tomorrow morning, you will deny Me three times that you even know me.”
Imagine if you were Peter, what would be going through your heart and mind? What would we be saying to ourselves? What would be going through our emotions?
Luke 22:62; “And Peter, left the courtyard, weeping bitterly.”
Can you imagine the regret I felt for failing Jesus? How could I fail so badly, even after Jesus warned me? Why would I deny Jesus? What is wrong with me?
How many of us keep failing in our spiritual journey? How many of us are ashamed of Jesus in our personal lives? How many of us are living with regret?
We need to realize that we are all weak, and that is why we need the gift of the Holy Spirit! We need to be empowered by the Spirit to be strong in the Lord!
Remember God’s Word: “It is not by our might, or our strength, but by My Spirit says the Lord.”
My prayer today is: Lord, fill me with Your Presence and Power today! Help me to live today knowing: “That I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.”
