NEW YORK – With the temperature hitting the 73-degree Fahrenheit on June 17, NYC Parks turned Central Park into a “gigantic jungle gym” as it welcomed New Yorkers to its 16th annual Adventures NYC festival.

Set in the middle of bustling Manhattan, Central Park grounds became a venue for thousands of New Yorkers of all ages and skill levels to participate in free outdoor activities such as rock climbing, archery, stand-up paddleboarding, and more. Attendees also enjoyed food trucks, live music, and community tabling throughout the day and witnessed tree-climbing demonstrations from Parks Forestry and Central Park Conservancy workers.

“We are thrilled to welcome New Yorkers back to Central Park this year for our one-of-a-kind annual event, which encourages people to get outside and try new activities,” said NYC Parks Commissioner Sue Donoghue. “Adventures NYC is all about having fun, staying active, and connecting with parks. We’re grateful to all of our sponsors for making this year’s lineup of free activities possible.”

It was open air for everyone to celebrate the great outdoors – the nation’s most giant urban playground — and have their heart’s delight.

Adventures NYC was presented in partnership with On Running Shoes, Coca-Cola, Smartwater, Bright Horizons, The Dermatology Specialists, Lifeway, New York Public Library, and the Super Mario Brothers movie. Media partners for the event were 94.7 The Block and WCBS FM.
