In this culture that is so divided, from family, education, and current issues to our local and national government, we are in trouble, and we need to find refuge and strength in times of trouble.

I am thankful for Psalm 121: 1-5; “I look up to the mountains – does my help come from there? My help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth. He will not let you stumble; the One who watches over you will not slumber. Indeed, He who watches over Israel never slumbers or sleeps. The Lord Himself watches over you.”

  • Where do people who do not have Jesus turn? Psalm 121 was a song that the pilgrims would sing as they went up to Jerusalem. To get to Jerusalem, you would have to climb the mountain. As they were walking up, all they could see was the mountain. Mountains are massive, big, and powerful displays of nature. But does my help come from the hills? Where do we look for our help? Government, city, career, people, church, family? None of those things can help like Jesus! They would sing this: MY HELP COMES FROM THE LORD, WHO MADE HEAVEN AND EARTH.”
  • Where do I look for help in my life? Do I look to culture or to Christ? Do I look to man or to the Son of Man? Where I look for help is vital to my spiritual journey!
  • Where do I look when I fail, fall and stumble in life? And we will all do that. Jesus will not allow us to stumble. “He is my refuge and strength, a very present help in the time of trouble.”
  • Where do I look when I feel all alone? That no one sees me? I look to the Lord because He never slumbers or sleeps.
The Lord Himself is watching over me.”

So no matter what mountain is in our life today! Remember, “My help comes from the Lord, who made the heaven and the earth, and every mountain on the earth!

Our God is an awesome God!
