JERSEY CITY, NJ – On Saturday, March 9th, the Philippine American Friendship Committee, Inc. (PAFCOM) will paint the town pink, as it presents its “Pretty In Pink Friendship Ball,” in salute of its 23rd Grand Marshal, Mrs. Cora Reyes.

“Pretty in Pink” will take place at the Double Tree by Hilton Hotel, located at 128 Frontage Road in Newark, NJ.  The event will start at 6:30pm with a cocktail hour, followed by dinner, program, and dancing from 7:30pm to 12:30am.  Ladies are encouraged to wear any formal dress in any shade or touch of pink, while gentlemen are recommended black-tie attire, with any pink accents.

Reyes is a long-time nursing professional and well-respected community leader.  She is the Unit Nurse Manager and Human Resources Officer for the Health Services department of JP Morgan Chase, which recognized her this year with the 30-Years Service Award.  She also serves as Chief Coordinator for Bulacan Medical & Food Missions and President of Friends InDeed, USA Inc.  She was  Overall Chairperson for the Philippine Independence Day Committee (PIDC) New York in 1999-2000.

“PAFCOM is proud and honored to have Cora Reyes as its 23rd Grand Marshal,” said Edwin Solano, PAFCOM Overall Chairperson.  “She brings a deep commitment to service and is simply beloved by the Filipino American community for her humility, integrity, and her many contributions to worthy endeavors and projects.”

“We promise you a fun and glamorous night,” said Luchie Vivas, Chairperson of the Grand Marshal Ball.  “PAFCOM is always elevating the experience it creates for our members and supporters.  We appreciate the camaraderie and support that the community shares with us and this is why we work so hard each year.  This is a night not to be missed!”

According to PAFCOM, a number of new events and projects are being unveiled in 2013, which started with golf clinics offered to members and supporters, in advance of its Golf Invitational slated to be held June 30.  A sports tournament, other activities, and its highly-anticipated lineup of Philippine entertainers to be featured in the grand parade are also slated for announcement in the coming months.  The 23rd Grand Parade and Festival is set for Sunday, June 23rd, to take place in Jersey City’s Lincoln Park.

“I invite all my friends and community partners to come out in support of PAFCOM,” said GM Cora Reyes.  “We are supporting our traditions and the legacy of the Filipino American community, particularly in Jersey City and throughout the Northeast.  I’m proud to be part of an undertaking that elevates the pride and standing of Filipinos within the larger community, while continuing to provide an opportunity for us all to celebrate and showcase the best values and qualities of our heritage.”
