NEW YORK — Philippine Airlines (PAL) has been named the No. 1 most punctual airline in the Asia‑Pacific region for 2025, achieving an on‑time arrival performance of 83.12%, according to global aviation analytics firm Cirium. The recognition marks the first time the Philippine flag carrier has topped the region, one of the most competitive and operationally demanding aviation markets in the world.
Cirium’s annual On‑Time Performance (OTP) Review, now in its 17th year, is considered the industry benchmark for airline reliability, tracking millions of flights worldwide using independently verified data.
PAL’s achievement stands out in a region typically dominated by major carriers such as All Nippon Airways, Japan Airlines, and Singapore Airlines. In 2025, PAL outperformed all of them.

PAL Holdings President and COO Lucio Tan III credited the achievement to the airline’s workforce and partners.
“This achievement reflects the discipline, professionalism, and teamwork of our entire organization, particularly our frontline teams who operate our flights safely and reliably every day,” Tan said.
He also highlighted the role of PAL’s private‑sector partners—MacroAsia Corporation, Lufthansa Technik Philippines, New NAIA Infrastructure Corporation, Aboitiz InfraCapital Inc., and LIPAD Corp.—as well as government agencies that support the airline’s operations.
PAL emphasized that punctuality remains a core commitment to passengers and is made possible through close coordination across flight operations, engineering, airport services, ground handling, and customer‑facing teams.
Travelers React: Pride, Relief, and Renewed Confidence
The ranking has generated strong reactions from Filipino travelers.
“As someone who flies PAL regularly between Manila and Los Angeles, this is great news. You can really feel the improvements—they’ve been more on time lately,” said Marissa Cruz, a Filipino American nurse.
Domestic business traveler Ryan Ong said the ranking boosts confidence:
“When you’re traveling for work, every minute counts. PAL being No. 1 makes me more confident booking them.”
Others expressed national pride.
“It feels good to see a Filipino airline leading Asia‑Pacific. We’re so used to hearing negative things about our airports—this is a win for the country,” said Jomar Villanueva, a frequent flyer from Cebu.
A Competitive Regional Landscape
Asia‑Pacific carriers continue to face capacity pressures, weather disruptions, and air traffic congestion. PAL’s ability to maintain schedule integrity despite these challenges underscores its operational improvements and its ambition to strengthen its global reputation.
PAL currently operates a fleet of Boeing, Airbus, and De Havilland aircraft, serving 31 domestic and 39 international destinations across Asia, North America, Australia, and the Middle East
