Philippine Embassy in Vienna hosts five young Filipino visiting artists

VIENNA (June 16) — As part of a month-long European tour,five Filipino young artists participated in Young Art Philippines week-long exhibit at the Museum for Young Art (MOYA) in Vienna, Austria.

The five multi-awarded Philippine artists who had their work exhibited were Eman Santos, Jojo Austria, Robert Fernandez, Marcial Pontillas and Sam Penaso. The exhibit was organized by Mr. Ver Cuizon and Mr. Bill Perez in coordination with the Philippine Embassy in Vienna and with the support of the Filipino community.

Ambassador Linglingay F. Lacanlale hosted a reception for some 70 guests at the opening on June 8.  She and Dr. Haydar Sari, Chief of the Intercultural Affairs of the City of Vienna cut the inaugural ribbon during the reception.

In her remarks at the exhibit opening, Ambassador Lacanlale stated that the exhibit helps deepen Europe’s appreciation of the Philippines, noting that the five young artists “bring with them the idealism, sensitivity and the ingenuity of their generation as well the openness of their art and healthy interaction with global influences.”
