Philippine Fruits In Demand In Oman

MANILA — Philippine fruits, like banana, pineapple, and mangoes are gaining a strong demand in the mainstream market in Oman, Philippine Ambassador-designate Joselito Jimeno said.

Jimeno and Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) Chairman Khalil Bin Abdullah Bin Mohammed Al Khonji met recently to discuss activities between Oman and the Philippines that will boost economic, trade and commercial cooperation.

Al Khonji said that potential investors may explore establishing joint venture project with Filipino counterparts to ensure sufficient supply of such products in the local market.

The two officials also agreed to continue encouraging the private sectors to explore commercial and investment opportunities in both countries.

The OCCI Chairman suggested accelerating business exchanges to spur tourism, which in turn will lead to more trade exchanges.  He assured JImeno his group is considering visiting the Philippines for the possible signing of the proposed Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the PCCI and the OCCI.

Meanwhile, for his part, Jimeno also suggested bringing in select Philippine business experts to Oman to conduct Business Forum on “Doing Business in the Philippines” under the auspices of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
