Prayer changes us, and we need to pray for His power and strength in our lives today

In Colossians 1:11, Paul continues his prayer for the church (which we should pray for ourselves, our families, and our church).

“We also pray that you will be strengthened with all His glorious power, so you will have all the endurance and patience you. May you be filled with joy.”

We see a couple of things we must pray for in life’s journey.

  • We must be strengthened with all His glorious power. If we are going to finish the journey, we need to pray for God’s strength in our lives. We need the Holy Spirit because He empowers us for the journey. We get weak and tired on our journey, so the Holy Spirit must equip and empower us. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” “It is not by might nor by power (mine), but by my Spirit, says the Lord.” Start praying to be strengthened by the Holy Spirit.
  • We must pray for His power to give us endurance and patience for the journey. The journey can be long and difficult, twists and turns in this life. That is why we cannot quit until we finish the journey. That is why we need the power of the Spirit to give us endurance and patience for the entire journey. Remember, “When I am weak, He is strong.” So pray for the Lord to help you to be strong today for the journey.
  • We must pray for joy on the journey! Life can be difficult sometimes, so we need joy for the journey. We need the joy of the Lord. “The joy of the Lord is my strength.” Joy helps us to enjoy the journey!

Start praying this for yourself, your marriage, family, and your friends! Prayer changes us, and we need to pray for His power and strength in our lives today!
