Prayer is not something we do, but prayer is a way of living when we are all in for Jesus!
Psalm 86 is David’s prayer. He shows us how to make prayer a way of life for Jesus’s followers.
Psalm 86:1-7; “Incline Your ear, O Lord, and answer me, for I am poor and needy. Preserve my life, for I am godly; save your servant, who trusts in You – You are my God. Be gracious to me, O Lord, for to You do I cry all the day. Gladden the soul of Your servant, for to You, O Lord do I lift up my soul. For You, O Lord, are good and forgiving, abounding in steadfast love to all who call upon You. Give ear to my prayer; listen to my plea for grace. In the day of trouble I call upon You, for You answer Me!”
What is David teaching us about a lifestyle of prayer?
- I have to realize and admit my need for the Lord. That without His Presence, I will not make it!
- I must trust in the Lord because He is my God! I need to know Jesus and know that I am all in!
- I need His grace in my life every area of my life! “His grace is sufficient (enough) for me.”
- I know the character of God! He is always good and always forgiving of all my sins, past, present, and future!
- I know My God abounds in steadfast love because I am all in for Jesus!
- In trouble, I call upon the Lord, and He answers me!
Prayer is a lifestyle when you are all in for Jesus!
