Reading God’s Word and allowing God’s Word to speak to us can provide so much practical advice. In the story of David and Goliath, we see how the enemy tries to work in our lives, like when Goliath came after David.
1 Samuel 17: 41-44; we see how Goliath attacked David, which is how the devil also attacks us. “Goliath walked out toward David with his shield bearer ahead of him, sneering in contempt at this ruddy-faced boy. “Am I a dog,” he roared at David, “That you come at me with a stick?” And he cursed David by the names of his gods. “Come over here, and I’ll give your flesh to the birds and wild animals!” Goliath yelled.”
- Goliath, like Satan, tries to insult us by saying that we have no power, ability, or strength to defeat him. But this is when we need to remember that we belong to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords! When the enemy insults us, we must not forget that I am a child of the King!
- Goliath, like Satan, tries to intimidate (bully) us. He tries to make us think that we cannot fight against him. Who do you think you are? When I am in a spiritual battle, I need to remind myself, “Greater is HE that is in me than He that is in the world.
- Goliath, like Satan, tries to increase our fear of him being invincible. The enemy may be big for me, but I must remind myself, “The battle belongs to the Lord.
Satan will try to intimidate you and me, but we must stand on God’s Word and remember that “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
