In Ecclesiastes 9, King Solomon writes that every person has an expiration date. Death is something that we cannot avoid. Someone said every person has a birthdate and will have a date on which they will die, but the key is the dash between the two dates. We have no control over our birthdate and the day we die, but we do control the dash (how we live our lives between the two dates).
Ecclesiastes 9: 3-4; “It seems so wrong that everyone under the sun suffers the same fate. Already twisted by evil, people choose their own mad course, for they have no hope. There is nothing ahead but death anyway. There is hope only for the living…”
Death is something that every single one of us will have to face in our families and even for ourselves. Death is something that we do not want to think about, plan for, or talk about. But it is something that we must plan for while we have the opportunity in life.
In the Book of Romans, we read: “The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus.” Death is a result of sin! Sin separates us from God! But God gave us the gift of eternal life by sending His One and Only Son to die on the Cross.
How do I prepare for death? By accepting the only gift of salvation – Jesus! “Today is the day of salvation”, so if you want to be ready to die, live for Jesus today!
Thank you, Lord, for the gift of eternal life!
