This coming Friday is called Good Friday because this was the day that Jesus paid the price for all of our sins when He died on the Cross for you and me. The Cross is the most significant sign of love, that Jesus, the Son of God, would come not to be served but to serve and give His life for you and me.
1 John 1: 7-8, we read, “But if we are living in the light, as God is in the light, then we have fellowship with each other, and the blood of Jesus, His Son, cleanses us from all sin. If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth.”
Why is Jesus’ death on the Cross so important to every one of us?
- Every single person is a sinner! We all sin, so we need a Savior to save us from our sins. God’s Word tells us, “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” “The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ.” We really do not want to think about this, but we are all sinners, and God loved us to send His Son to pay the price for our sins!
- Every single person needs a Savior! “The blood of Jesus, His Son, cleanses us from all sin.” There are not many ways of salvation or forgiveness of sins; there is only one way, through Jesus’s death on the Cross. God’s Word tells us, “Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, and no man comes to the Father but through the Son.”
- Every single follower of Jesus lives in the truth, and we want to tell others about Jesus! We have an obligation to tell others that Jesus is the answer!
So, as we take this journey towards Good Friday, have you accepted the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ? You can do it right now: if you A – Admit that you are a sinner and need Jesus in your life. B – Believe in your heart that Jesus died for your sins. C – Confess with your mouth that you have accepted Christ into your life!
This is the reason Jesus went to the Cross for you and me! “For God so loved the world, that He gave His One and Only Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
