In Luke 15, Jesus gives the Parable of the Lost Son. In verses 20-21, we see the lost son begin his journey home to his Father. Imagine what must have been going through His mind as he made the journey back home. What is the worst-case scenario that can happen? My Father can reject me! My Father can make me a hired servant and work in his fields! My Father can forgive me. But I have done so much wrong, so what is he going to do to me?

How many of us say that about God? How is my Heavenly Father going to respond to me? Will He reject me? Partially accept me back home? Forgive me and receive me? We are just like the prodigal son.

Luke 15:20 tells us: “So he returned home to his father. And while he was still a long way off, his father saw him coming. Filled with love and compassion, he ran to his son, embraced him, and kissed him.”

The father just saw his son, got up, and ran to him! Think about that, that is what our Heavenly Father does to every single sinner that comes back to Him. The Father was watching for His Son, and God is watching for you and me to return to Him.

We see that the father was filled with love, compassion, embraced his son, and kissed him. That is the love of God and the love of the Father. Imagine the condition of this homeless son, how smelly, filthy, and messy was this prodigal son? But that did not matter to the Father, because this was his son, who came home. He came to the Father in his messy, smelly condition, and the Father loved him, embraced him, and kissed him.

That is what our Heavenly Father does to anyone who will come to Him. He will not reject us, but He will accept us, forgive us, embrace us, and change us!

Today, our Heavenly Father is waiting and watching for you to come home to Him! What is keeping you from finding the One who loves you and wants you to come to Him, just the way you are right now?

Today, get up and go to the Father who loves you so much that He gave His One and Only Son for you!
