In Matthew 5, Jesus teaches His followers what it truly means to be a follower of Jesus. Following Jesus is more than just showing up for church or doing religious things. Following Jesus includes every area of life.

In verse 5, “Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth.” It is so contrary to the way of life today. Today, we have to fight for our rights; we need to be rough and challenging so that we are not taken advantage of by people.

But Jesus tells His followers, “Blessed are the meek…”. Meekness means – strength under control, humility, submission to the Lord!

Because of Jesus, we can have strength under control. We have the Holy Spirit so that we can stay in control and not lose control of our actions, words, temper, and anger. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens.”

Today, help me to realize that I can remain meek because of your presence in my life!
