How many have ever heard the statement: “Winners never quit and quitters never win.” That is true in life, sports, and work, but this is also true in our spiritual life. How many people will never quit in the things of this life, but because of the world, family problems, sickness, death and hurt we give up on the Lord.”
Paul writes these words in 2 Corinthians 4: 16- 18: “That is why we NEVER GIVE UP. Though our bodies are dying, our spirits are being renewed every day. For our PRESENT TROUBLES are small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So we don’t LOOK at the TROUBLES we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.”
Lord, help me to remember:
* NEVER GIVE UP! Why would I give up, if I know that You never give up on me! People will fail me, My body will fail me the older I get, (not know but when I get old). My finances may run out. Life will not always be easy. But the one thing that I can trust in is that the Lord will never give up on me!
* RENEWED DAILY! I need the Holy Spirit to renew me constantly, but without His presence and power, I can’t make it! “They that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength….” Lord, renew me today!
* COMPARED TO ETERNITY, MY TROUBLES WON’T LAST VERY LONG! How many of us focus on the problems of today? But we forget that eternity is a long time. How many things are we stressing about now that won’t matter 10 years from now?
* STOP LOOKING AT THE PRESENT PROBLEMS AND FIX YOUR THOUGHTS ON JESUS! We all have problems of various kinds, but instead of focusing on the problem, focus on Jesus, the Problem-solver!
Today, help me to remember “Winners never quit, and quitters never win!” “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
