How many of us struggle with contentment? We see what others have, and we feel slighted. We covet what others have because we are not content with what God blesses us with in life.

The last of the Ten Commandments is in Exodus 20:17: “You must not covet your neighbor’s wife, male or female servant, ox or donkey or anything else that belongs to your neighbor.”

If we are honest with ourselves, we are not content in life. We always seek better, bigger, and more of what we want. We strive for things and are not content with what the Lord blesses us.

That is why I like taking new people on mission trips. They walk away with a spirit or attitude of contentment for God’s blessings. When we get away from our daily lives and immerse ourselves in a new culture, we realize that we are truly blessed.

In 1 Corinthians 4:11, Paul tells us this: “Not that I was ever in never, for I have learned how to be content with whatever I have.”

Today, help us to learn the secret of contentment! Help me to be thankful for all of Your many blessings in my life.
