Part VII of the “Fourteen More Letters to Pope Leo XIV”
Last Wednesday, January 14, 2026, this columnist posted on Facebook a preview of what this column would discuss today, Sunday. It is now addressed to the attention of the esteemed governments of Denmark, Greenland, the State of the Vatican, and the NATO Member-States. And humanity worldwide.
This columnist proposes today an ideal, and equitable alternative to a takeover by the United States — by sale or by force — of Greenland. The same alternative (of using cooperative economics) may also be applied to Venezuela, Palestine and its Gaza Corridor, Ukraine, and other countries being taken over by other nations.
The alternative? For the governments of Denmark and Greenland to sell the island-state of Greenland to their citizens first to a tentatively-named “HUMANIDAD COOPERATIVE”. And then permit consortia of environmental foundations, associations of physicians, nurses, and other medical groups, groups of architects and engineers (like the Filipino-American Society of Architects and Engineers of FASAE), labor unions, and even other interested citizens or nationals of different states and nations, etcetera, ad infinitum.
Only the tenets of cooperative economics can deter any entity from spending hundreds of billions of greenbacks to purchase Greenland. How? Because an ordinary citizen investing in one share (valued, for instance, at the equivalent of US$1,000) will have the same one vote in any election to elect the Board of Directors of such a co-op that will take ownership of Greenland. Thus, any entity buying billions of shares in the “Greenland Cooperative” will also have one voting share. Ergo, no cartel can have enough votes even to elect one member of the Board.
Then, to defend Greenland — as owned by millions, if not billions, of cooperative shareholders — it is suggested respectfully to form a HUMANIDAD CO-OP ARMED FORCES that will be owned also by its military personnel, including engineering brigades and medical corps, which may be organized also as co-ops.
“Then, to defend Greenland — as owned by millions, if not billions, of cooperative shareholders — it is suggested respectfully to form a HUMANIDAD CO-OP ARMED FORCES that will be owned also by its military personnel, including engineering brigades and medical corps, which may be organized also as co-ops.”
Cooperative-owned businesses — from agricultural and mining ventures to airlines, cruise ships, and manufacturing concerns — may be launched simultaneously. Yes, by passing a law that only mass-based cooperatives can engage in such economic activities in Greenland.
This article is also addressed to Pope Leo XIV. Why? Because as head of the State of Vatican, the pontiff can persuade worldwide congregations of more than 1.4 billion Catholics to purchase shares of the proposed (and coming) HUMANIDAD COOPERATIVE and the HUMANIDAD CO-OP ARMED FORCES.
Perhaps the first American pontiff would like to serve as the ex officio Chairman of the Board of both groups of cooperatives. The column will also discuss, in subsequent editions, the wisdom of involving the Vatican in the organizational first step of said proposed co-ops.
Pope Leo XIV has the highest approval rating among all world leaders and tops the Gallup Poll popularity surveys in the United States. Almost all American public officials (federal or state; elected or appointed) garnered an approval rating not even close (or even half) to what the pope got in said poll numbers. An appeal by the pope to the reserve and active members of the U.S. or any foreign military to become shareholders individually will prevent any hostile takeover of Greenland. How can a soldier, who is a co-op member, join an illegal and, albeit immoral, invasion of Greenland that he (or she) owns co-op shares of? Or,, for that matter,, Venezuela, et al., if the same co-op alternative or solution is adopted in the other countries facing crises?
