NEW YORK – PinoyLIfe Media, a lifestyle and knowledge sharing channel, premieres its new program Usapang Fil Am on Thursday, May 20 via FB Livestream at 8 p.m. EST with the theme Fil Am Nurses: A Year Into the Pandemic.

In this premiere episode, Usapang Fil Am will focus on the plight of Filipino American nurses a year into the pandemic. Designed as a straight talk with guests, Usapang Fil Am will attempt to probe deeper and understand reports that no ethnic group of health care workers has suffered more casualties than Filipino Americans. More than a quarter of nurses who have died of COVID-19 and related complications in the U.S. are Filipino Americans, even as they make up just 4 percent of nurses in the country.

The pilot episode’s hosts, Noel Pangilinan and Cris Godinez, will have a candid conversation with Zenei Cortez, president of the largest union of registered nurses in America, and Fatima Cabillon, a registered nurse. Her mother worked as the Head ER Nurse at a Brooklyn hospital and became one of the early casualties of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Usapang Fil Am would like to highlight their tireless care for the weak and the sick during this pandemic by asking the hard questions: How are our nurses? Who is taking care of them?

The Talk of the Town is a news magazine with several segments; Usapang Fil Am focuses on straight talk with guests to discuss at length life experiences in the U.S., advocacy of organizations in serving the Fil Am community, and issues impact either the individual or the community. In addition, host(s) will also feature guests with ordinary beginnings or struggles in life but had extraordinary accomplishments in their journey.

Since the debut of the Talk of the Town in November last year, the producers said the show had received rave reviews from its viewers in the US and abroad. They credit the content and the substance of its episodes. Also, the overall production of its shows.

Usapang Fil Am is the newest addition to PinoyLife’s list of programs the producers intend to develop and present. In the meantime, they say Usapang Fil Am’s pilot episode is another interesting and insightful show to learn from PinoyLife Media, a lifestyle and knowledge-sharing channel.
