In Acts 1, the followers of Jesus ask Him about the last days and what will happen in the future. Just like today, everyone wants to know about the end times. But Jesus told His followers then, which is still true today as we follow Jesus.
Acts 1: 7-8: “Jesus replied, “The Father alone has the authority to set those dates and times, and they are not for you to know. But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses…..”
Jesus was telling His followers to stop trying to figure out when Jesus would come back and what would happen in the future. Jesus says to stay in Jerusalem and receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
If you want to make it through every day and the last days, you need the gift of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit will give you the power to live for Jesus daily. But the Holy Spirit will give you the power to be my witnesses.
What is a witness? Someone that will tell others what Jesus has done in their lives. Why do we need the Holy Spirit? We need His power to witness to others and to live before others the power of Jesus!
Today, do we need to receive the power of the Holy Spirit to live for Jesus and witness Jesus to a world that needs Jesus? We need His power today in our lives and the church so that we can be the light of the world and the salt of the earth!
Lord, fill me with Your power today!
