Do we really know and understand what the role of the Holy Spirit is in our daily lives? Why did God want us to know and live in the presence and power of the Holy Spirit? Why were we commanded to be filled with the Holy Spirit? When we experience the Holy Spirit, it really changes our spiritual life.
John 14: 26-27; Jesus is teaching us about the Holy Spirit’s purpose and role in our lives. “But when the Father sends the Advocate, as my representative – that is, the Holy Spirit – He will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you. I am leaving you with a gift – peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid.”
How many want God’s gift to us? The Holy Spirit is a gift from God to help us live our daily lives in a sinful, broken world.
* The Holy Spirit is my Heavenly Advocate – my representative! He is the one who pleads for me, my defense attorney. When I am in a spiritual battle, I have an advocate pleading on my behalf! When I fail, and I will, the Holy Spirit is pleading on my behalf! I may have no person pleading on my behalf, but I have the gift of the Holy Spirit!
* The Holy Spirit is my Teacher. He teaches me things that man cannot teach me! He reveals God the Father and Jesus to us! He teaches us the Word of God, not just in our minds, but in our hearts and spirits. Think about the need for this gift of the Holy Spirit as our Teacher. When you read your Bible and then ask the Lord to speak to you, He teaches us the Word of God. He wants to be your Teacher today!
* The Holy Spirit is my Reminder! How many of us forget things? But the Holy Spirit reminds me of God’s Word in my daily life! The Holy Spirit reminds me of His promises from the Word and from the past. I am thankful that what God has placed within me, the Holy Spirit, will bring things back to remembrance when I need that Reminder!
* The Holy Spirit is a gift to me of Peace of Mind and Heart! What a needed gift today, that the Holy Spirit gives me peace in my mind and heart. “He gives me a peace that the world cannot give.” His peace is what keeps me from being troubled, fearful, worried, and full of anxiety.
Today, we need more than just information about the Holy Spirit; we need the Holy Spirit to transform us inside and out! Come, Holy Spirit, I need you today!
