God created us with a need for community! We need relationships in our lives in real life. Today, how many of our relationships are on our social media platforms? We have Facebook friends, but we have no friends because of relationship. We have experiences without ever being connected in community in person. We can watch church, but are we being the church? We receive but what are we giving back to others?
God created us to have community with friends.
Romans 5:11, “So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God.”
Do we realize that we have a real relationship with God? Do we realize that we are now friends with God. Someone said that, we choose our friends but not our family. Friendship is a two way relationship and because of Jesus we are friends with God.
How many are thankful for real friends? Not social media friends and followers, but real people that are real friends. I am thankful for all the acquaintances that I have in life, but what helps me the most are real friends that are always there for you. With friends you can be yourself, and they see you in the good and the bad. You can trust them, be open with them and vice versa!
I am thankful for the friends that God has blessed me with, but I am thankful that God is my friend! Jesus is my friend! The Holy Spirit is my friend!
When you are a friend of God’s, life is a lot easier to deal with! Are you really a friend of God’s today?
