Part XLXII of the “United States 2024 Elections” Series
There are many good reasons, aside from common sense, why the Harris-Walz slate will trump (pun intended) the Trump-Vance ticket. Despite the alleged gender bias of usually-Caucasian male voters, especially non-college graduates, and secondly, racial discrimination, Kamala Harris is poised to be elected the first Black-American woman of also Asian descent as the next POTUS.
Let us first discuss the presidency. On July 17, 2024, this column presented the hypothesis that “No President Is an Island, But the Presidency Is Like a Continent.”
The article ended with this scenario: “The question now is whether President Biden will emulate President LBJ. President Johnson did what he believed was the only honorable move to preserve the presidency’s integrity. President LBJ decided that his retirement would heal all the divisions in the country and end a deadlier Tsunami of student protests and peacemakers, aside from mitigating the mounting military and civilian casualties in Vietnam. History credits LBJ’s quitting politics with hastening the end of the Vietnam War. Quo vadis, President Joe Biden?”
Four days later, President Biden announced that he would not seek reelection and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris to replace him in the Democratic presidential slate.
For his age, experience, and wisdom, retiring President Biden knows that Kamala Harris does not have the scholarly distinction of graduating summa cum laude as President Obama did. Mr. Obama is the only POTUS to have achieved the highest academic accolades. But many know that Ms. Kamala’s critics have preconceived bad thoughts about her qualifications. Her supporters reply to the critics’ thoughts (and doubts) about her qualifications and experience (or inexperience) by asking in turn, “Is there a University for a Doctorate in Presidency?”

The truth is that the majority of American states, territories (including the Native American Indian Nations), and minority areas are so hungry, literally and figuratively, for their communities to get better.”
But even if Ms. Kamala was allegedly an above-average honor student in high school, college, and law school, she showed her being street smart as a student, a lawyer, a public prosecutor, a California Attorney General, a member of the U.S. Senate, and a Vice President. One thing more, Ms. Kamala is not as infamous as Mr. Trump is because the dream of ordinary Joes and Joans is not to become infamous but only to be remembered by kin and friends as a modest person of some decent fame.
Some MAGA-Republican critics mimic the accusation of Mr. Trump that Ms. Harris is “not Black enough,” aside from being a woman. Race is not a constitutional qualification for the presidency. But there is a saying among Mexicans, Africans, Asians, and other minority peoples in the Third World that “the strength of a home is not found in the concrete foundation of a house but on the shoulders of the woman (or mother) of the family.” Unfortunately, Mr. Trump is swimming against the common folk sentiment and tides of good wishes for a qualified woman to become President of the United States of America finally. As pundits and late-night comedians satirically say, the only alleged chance for Mr. Trump to win back the presidency is if he undergoes a sex-change operation and then remarries Ms. Melania in a same-sex marriage.
One prevailing condition is that Trump supporters cannot reply intelligently or offer an alternative solution to one fact. The truth is that the majority of American states, territories (including the Native American Indian Nations), and minority areas are so hungry, literally and figuratively, for their communities to get better. They want a new generation of leaders who are decades younger than Mr. Trump and who do not admit he is that old. He acts older, often with his word salads that are incoherent and nonsensical to many listeners and viewers.
This column argues that “no president is an island.” It takes teamwork to become a successful president. Kamala Harris and Tim Walz have always performed their public services as team members. Unlike Ms. Harris, Mr. Trump has never served “We, the People” in his four-year stint as president. Ms. Harris relished her role as the prosecutor of criminals committing crimes against the People of the United States or of the State of California.
Ms. Harris always acted for and on behalf of “We, the People” and never bragged about her successful record as public prosecutor and California’s chief law-enforcement official. Compare her to Mr. Trump, who boasted that as Commander-in-Chief, he knew more than all the trained generals in the U.S. military. Then he said that “only Donald Trump knows economics and can make the U.S. economy great again,” not knowing that even before he (Trump) was born, the U.S. economy was already the world’s biggest.
According to most historical accounts (as Googled), the United States began to have the world’s largest economy around the late 19th century, specifically around the 1890s. Following the U.S. Civil War, it surpassed the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland as the leading producer of manufactured goods and steel.
Finally, there are about four dozen proofs that President Trump failed to organize a successful team to help him run the White House efficiently. During his only four-year term, President Trump fired nearly four dozen top aides, Cabinet members, and advisers and almost had Vice President Mike Pence lynched by his mob that tried to stop the proclamation of Joe Biden as president-elect. At least half of those Trump-appointed officials resigned before Mr. Trump could fire them.
Many former Trump officials have said they would never vote for him if he were to run again—even for dogcatcher, it seems.
