The Miracle of Salvation

In Luke 19: 1-10, we see Jesus’s encounter with a man named Zacchaeus. This man was a sinner but also a tax collector for Jericho. He became very rich because tax collectors would make people pay extra taxes that would go into their pockets. He was despised and hated because of his lifestyle.

We also see that Zacchaeus was a short man. He heard that Jesus was coming and climbed into a tree to see this man Jesus.
In verse 5, we read, “When Jesus came by, He looked up at Zacchaeus and called him by name. Zacchaeus! He said, “Quick, come down! I must be a guest in your home today.” Think about the love and compassion of Jesus. There was a crowd of people all around, and look at what we saw:

  • Jesus saw Him, and Jesus sees you today! You may feel alone, forgotten, and rejected by family, friends, and people. You may feel like you are just a number, but Jesus knows you and sees you!
  • Jesus called him by name! Jesus knows you because He created you! He knows every detail of your life and still desires a relationship with you!
  • Jesus called and told him I was coming to his house today! Jesus comes to us as well! Jesus wants to do life with you! Jesus was going to the house of a man that was hated and rejected by the people of Jericho.

That is the Jesus that wants a relationship with you and me today! He sees us, knows us, and wants to come to our house today!

God’s Word tells us: “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If any man hears my voice and opens the door, I will come into his life.” Today, Jesus wants a relationship with You, but we must invite Him into our lives today!

That is what Good Friday is all about! Jesus went to the Cross and died for my sin so that I could have a way to His House. Jesus died for me so that I could have eternal life! That is the miracle of salvation!

Jesus is still calling people today….but will we respond? The choice is up to every single one of us!
