God calls us to holy living on the journey. When we hear the word holy, what do you think? Living a holy life is not a list of rules or do’s and don’ts. Living a holy life is living close to Jesus.

In 1 Peter 1: 13-15, Peter tells us, “So prepare your minds for action and exercise self-control. Put all your hope in the gracious salvation that will come to you when Jesus Christ is revealed to the world. So you must live as God’s obedient children. Don’t slip back into your old ways of living to satisfy your desires. You did not know any better then. But now you must be holy in everything you do, just as God who chose you is holy.”

What are the characteristics of a holy life that pleases God?

  • I need to prepare my mind for action to follow Jesus. I need a renewed mind that changes how I think about life. I need to begin to think spiritually and not worldly.
  • I need to exercise self-control! To live holy means I make holy decisions and then with the help of the Lord learn to control my choices!
  • I need to obey God’s Word and not just debate God’s Word! “Faith without works is dead.”
  • I need to avoid slipping back into my old ways of living. Do not drift, but keep following Jesus forward!
  • I must realize that living a holy life is a life that experiences God’s presence, peace, and provision.”

Lord, help me to live a life that pleases you today!
